WithoutBG API is a background removal service that lets you remove image backgrounds through a managed REST API optimized for complex edges or a self-hosted open-weight model that keeps data local. It returns PNG cutouts or alpha mattes and supports both cloud convenience and private on-prem processing.

    Apache-2.0 licensed model for self-hosted inference via Python, Docker, or macOS. Images stay on the user's network and it supports CPU or GPU plus batch processing.

  • Python Library

    Installable via pip or uv to process images in a few lines of code. Includes CLI and batch utilities and runs on CPU or GPU under the Apache-2.0 license.

  • Docker Deployment

    One-command Docker image or Desktop UI that exposes the same HTTP API schema as the cloud endpoint for local or on-prem use. Images remain inside the container.

  • macOS App and Server

    Native desktop app with drag-and-drop local inference and a headless server for Apple Silicon that exposes the HTTP API for plugins and local tools.

  • GIMP Plugin

    Plugin for GIMP 3.0 that sends the active layer to a local withoutBG server and attaches the resulting alpha matte as a layer mask.

  • Privacy Controls

    API uses TLS and RAM-only processing with images discarded after the response and never used for training. The open-weight option requires no external calls.
